MTPA - Mentor TEAM Parent Association

MTPA - Mentor TEAM Parent Association 2

Our Mission

The Mentor TEAM Parent Association (MTPA) is a volunteer group of parents who have students currently enrolled at Mentor College and/or TEAM School. The purpose of the MTPA is to enhance community spirit and enrich the student experience. To support our purpose, we host social and fundraising events that promote interaction between students, parents, and campuses. We work in a spirit of cooperation with parents, school administrators, teachers, and staff.

MTPA Board Positions

The Board of the MTPA is comprised of parent volunteers who meet monthly and work with school administration to plan social initiatives and to assist in providing volunteers for specific school events. Each board member serves a two-year term with specific duties based on their role. If you are interested in joining the board please contact the MTPA President.

How to Get Involved

We welcome your involvement in MTPA events and we look forward to your participation. MTPA activities require your support to be successful. There are many ways to show your support, from attending our BINGOs or baking cookies. Another way to show your support is to come out and volunteer because most of what we do cannot happen without your help. We provide many different opportunities for parents to be involved, one or more of which may fit into your busy schedule. We send home event information sheets with students at the beginning of the year for return to the MTPA, also available here. Returning the sheet ensures that you are kept informed of all MTPA activities, regardless if you can commit to any specific event.

Outside our Mandate

As the MTPA is often approached about school operations (e.g. physical space, curriculum), we want to clarify that these matters are outside of our mandate. Please speak to school administration at any of the three campuses.

How to Stay Informed

The MTPA uses social media platforms and email to share news on upcoming events. If you would like to receive periodic MTPA email updates please get in touch to be added to our information distribution list.

Meet & Greet Events

During the third week in September the MTPA hosts a meet & greet event at each campus, Primary, Main, and TEAM. Join us for a coffee! It is a great opportunity to meet new parents, Mentor/TEAM veterans as well as Mentor and TEAM administration. Contact the MTPA Volunteer Events Coordinator.

Family Bingo Nights

Our two social events, the BBQ/ Bingo held at Main Campus at the start of the school year in October and Family Fun Night held at TEAM School in February, help to strengthen the sense of community among our students, faculty and parents from all three campuses. These fun and exciting evenings help to build friendships and unite as a community both new and returning families. It is an evening where after a meal, yelling “BINGO” and winning prizes is the only aim. See what all the excitement is about!

Find our more about MTPA Family Events. We need your support to make these events a success. After covering costs any funds raised help support MTPA activities.

Treat Days & Bake Sales

Twice a year, in November and April, the MTPA organizes a treat day for students in Primary, Intermediate and TEAM. Details are shared on social media, in student agendas, notice envelopes and email updates. For more information or to volunteer please contact your campus representative: Primary Campus, Main Campus, TEAM School

Used Uniform Sales

Our used uniform coordinators provide a service to families whereby they can donate or consign their used blazers, kilts, pants, ties, sweaters, and vests on the Monday immediately following the last day of school in June. We ensure that a family’s commission is paid to them, with the balance supporting MTPA activities. The Tuesday immediately following the last Friday of school in June is our largest Used Uniform sale allowing parents the opportunity to get their students ready for September and save money! We also have an August back to school sale and a February clearance sale. For dates and additional information watch for flyers sent home, MTPA monthly emails, and MTPA social media.

Also, we arrange year-round sales through the MT Room. Find out more about MTPA Used Uniforms Sales.

Volunteer Coordination

The MTPA helps the school to organize parent volunteers for the Intermediate Science Fair, TEAM Science Fair, High School Speech Competition, and Intermediate Speech Competition. The MTPA sponsors four categories of awards (Health Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Social Sciences, Physical Sciences) for the Intermediate Science Fair, which awards 24 plaques or trophies to our budding scientists. We also provide awards for the TEAM Science Fair winners. The MTPA awards gift cards to the High School Speech winners and in Intermediate; twelve students receive the MTPA Speech Award plaque. Contact the MTPA Science Fair Volunteer Coordinator or the MTPA Speech Volunteer Coordinator.

Volunteer Appreciation Event

The events and activities of the MTPA rely on the Mentor/TEAM parents donating their time to make them happen. As a small token of our appreciation we host an event that provides us the opportunity to thank all of our parent volunteers. It is a great chance to connect with other parents!
